This short story is the prelude to my Bête Noire series. Bête Noire means black beast in French, or nightmare. The series follows Lexi’s life after the apocalypse.

Viruses are considered by many scientists to be the greatest threat to mankind. Mosquitoes carry viruses. I leave you with that thought.

I’ve published this story under a new pen name: Doomsday Carson, because the tone of the tale is much darker than my other stories.

If you’re in the mood for a story with a dark edge, give it a try. The first book in the series will release this spring.

Have a great day.

The cover is done by Steven Novak. I think he did a phenomenal job.

Naming my Moonshine

In my post-apocalyptic series, The Bete Noir, a virus wipes out most of the world’s population. Three years later my heroine starts a moonshine business so that she has something to trade for the things she needs. I’m stuck on a good name for her product(s). Here’s my list: of favourite names I found on the Internet:

White Lightening

Sugar Whisky

Popskull

Alley Bourbon

Kickapoo

Rotgut

Ruckus Juice

Wild Cat

Tiger’s Sweat

Rise ‘n Shine

Mule Kick

Hooch

What do you think? Do you have a favourite? Or can you think of another name? I’d love your input.
